Muhsin Muhammad is a Managing Director at Axum.  Mr. Muhammad’s responsibilities include deal sourcing, investment selection, and portfolio management.  Mr. Muhammad has extensive expertise within the education industry.  Mr. Muhammad is a co-founder of Ruckus House Learning Centers and was responsible for the facility's overall strategic direction and its ongoing operations.


Mr. Muhammad was a 14 year NFL veteran.  He was a leading member of the Carolina Panthers and Chicago Bears.  His contributions include serving as team captain for both teams where he led each team to Super Bowl XXXVIII  and Super Bowl XLI.  Mr. Muhammad still holds the NFL's record for the longest touchdown in super bowl history and is one of three players to have scored touchdowns for two different teams in the super bowl.  Mr. Muhammad also served as commentator for NFL Europe on behalf of Fox television and was a  post-season correspondent for the NFL Network in 2004.  He also won a Chicago Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement for Sports Programs for his segment, “Countdown to Kick Off,” which aired on Comcast SportsNet's "SportsNite" nationwide.  Additionally, he was an NFL player union respresentaive for four consecutive years and was intrumental in electing the current executive director, DeMaurice Smith.  Mr. Muhammad also serves on the Executive Business Committe of the NFL.

 

Mr. Muhammad is also the president of the M2 Foundation for Kids, which is dedicated to enhancing the educational, mental, and physical development of children.   He has also served on the board of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Charlotte and is the spokesperson for the Ronald McDonald House of Charlotte.  Mr. Muhammad received a bachelor of science degree from Michigan State University.
